Methanol, C2-C5 polyols, cyclic alchol and sugar are active biofuels for photocatalyic hydrogen generation.
Hydrogen generation occurs via photoreforming process where hydrogen generation can be predicted using PH2 = n/(2n + 1), where n is the number of carbon atoms in the structure.
Evidence of ring opening were observed in photocatalytic reforming of cyclic alcohols.
